Notes:In this webinar, presenters will offer insights into the municipal impact of H.B. 18-1128, which requires governmental entities in Colorado: (1) to develop and maintain a written policy for the destruction and proper disposal of documents containing Colorado residents' personal identifying information ("PII"); (2) to develop and implement reasonable security procedures and practices for any PII the governmental entity maintains, owns, or licenses; (3) to ensure any vendors handling or storing PII for the governmental entity also implements reasonable security procedures and practices; and (4) to comply with strict reporting requirements in the event PII is accessed due to a security breach. Topics covered will include document retention and destruction policies, breach notification obligations, and vendor security requirements.
