Building Opportunities Workshop
Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2-3:30 p.m., Grand Junction, Lincoln Park Towr Hospitality Suite
All buildings are opportunities to achieve community goals. An abandoned school can become affordable housing (Wheat Ridge); the old armory can be a community center (Lake City). You know what your community needs - have you looked at your existing assets as an opportunity to meet that need? Join the Colorado Municipal League and History Colorado for our first "Building Opportunity" Workshop, to be held Grand Junction on Sept. 13 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Lauren Mikulak from the City of Wheat Ridge and Jim Hartman from Hartman Ely Investments discuss Fruitdale Elementary School's transition from a unused former school into the Fruitdale Lofts, a 16-unit mix of market-rate and affordable housing. Their inspirational public-private partnership will demonstrate the tools available for cities and towns to bring life and economic vitality to unused properties. Elected officials, community development and planning staff, economic development authorities, and other interested parties are invited to attend.
